Maintaining your tires at the correct tire pressure will make your tires last longer, improve your handling and braking, and save on gas. Keep your factory-installed federally-mandated tire-pressure-monitoring system working properly with these universal TPMS sensors from MAX. The factory sensors have a battery life of roughly 5 years or 75,000 miles, and are relatively easy to damage. These sensors will work exactly like your factory sensors, including reprogramming them to the individual corner of the car when they’re replaced or the tires are rotated. They’ll fit virtually all aftermarket wheels, because the angle of the sensor is adjustable relative to the valve stem so they’ll lie flat against the inside of the wheel. In addition, the valve stem on MAX sensors is a separate part, and can be replaced independently of the electronics, which will save a lot of money and hassle if only the valve stem is damaged by road debris, corrosion or a careless tire technician.
Federal law prohibits a tire/wheel technician from disabling the TPMS system. So if you buy new wheels, custom wheels, or winter wheel/tire assemblies, you need to install sensors. That means either re-using the original sensors or installing new ones. The labor charge to move the old sensors is nearly as much as buying four new MAX sensors, with fresh batteries already on board. Don’t waste money by trying to reuse old sensors!
